Choral Evensong: Sung by The Compline Choir

Sun., June 2, at 4:30 PM at Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle

The Compline Choir is delighted to sing Choral Evensong at Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle, in preparation for our August 2024 pilgrimage to England. Music to be performed includes the premiere of the Saint Mark’s Service for ATB men’s voices and cello accompaniment by Seattle-based composer Jessica French (b. 1984); the Saint Mark’s Service was commissioned for the pilgrimage by Compline Choir member Paul Johns, cellist Page Smith, and Compline Choir director Jason Anderson. The Choir will sing the Canterbury Preces & Responses by Philip Moore (b. 1943), Psalm 103 by Peter Hallock (1924-2014), and To the Supreme Being, also by Hallock. John Stuntebeck serves as organist and Page Smith as cellist.

A free will offering will be taken in support of The Compline Choir’s August 2024 England Pilgrimage scholarship fund. This fund ensures that all members of the choir who wish to make the pilgrimage can do so, regardless of ability to pay. We hope you will support us by attending choral evensong or making a donation in support of our pilgrimage.

Land Acknowledgement

The Compline Choir, a shared ministry with The Peter R. Hallock Institute, Saint Mark’s Cathedral, and the Diocese of Olympia, acknowledges that we gather on the traditional lands of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People, who are still here, and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the life of all the Coast Salish Tribes.
