The Compline Choir, under the direction of Jason Anderson, will present a special Compline at St. Mark’s Cathedral on Sunday, March 21 at 9:30 PM dedicated to the memory of Richard T. Proulx, who died on February 18, 2010. This event is free and open to the public.

Compline that evening will feature music composed or arranged by Proulx and include Land of Rest, New Britain, a setting of the Nunc dimittis, and In Praise of Music, a piece for French Horn, percussion, and men’s chorus composed in 2004 especially for the Compline Choir’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. The choir will be joined by Jeff Fair, horn, and Brian Fairbanks, percussion.

Proulx was a member of the Compline Choir and, from 1970 to 1980, served as music director at St. Thomas Church, Medina, where he directed three choirs, a chamber orchestra, and established a tradition of handbell ringing. He was also organist at Temple de Hirsch Sinai. In addition to St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in Tacoma, his prior positions included a stint as music director at St. Stephen’s Church, Seattle.
