The Compline Choir

Capital In a darkened Episcopal cathedral in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday evenings at 9:30 p.m., a group of men chant the Office of Compline, the last monastic office of the day. Begun in 1956 by the group’s founder, Peter R. Hallock, it has become something of a phenomenon, with upwards of 500 people (many in their teens and early twenties) attending the service, and thousands in the radio audience and on the Internet each week. Jason Anderson now conducts the choir. Over the years, members of the group who have left Seattle have started observing the office in their new communities.

Contributions to the choir’s ministry provide support for the purchase of music, the production of recordings, and expenses involved in maintaining this website. The Compline Choir is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
